Meaningful and positive peer relationships foster a sense of connectedness to the school community and can be a powerful tool in supporting students in the educational setting. Peer mentoring is an organized youth relationship experience in which one student serves as the mentor and one as the mentee for the purpose of guiding and supporting in areas of academic, social and emotional development. Development of successful peer mentoring requires thoughtful and intentional planning aligned to the needs and subsequent goals of students and the school community.
