• Behavior Planning for Academic Success Through the Development of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)

  • Students with challenging behaviors or intensive social-emotional needs may need the support of a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) in order to function successfully in the school setting. In order to develop a BIP, a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is first developed.
    Participants will be able to:

    • Understand who and when an FBA may be conducted
    • Understand the critical components of an FBA (including a sample FBA template)
    • Choose appropriate data collection tools
    • Understand how an FBA is used to compose a BIP in order to improve student’s access and engagement in learning
    • Understand the legal requirements for BIP
    • Understand who and when a BIP needs to be developed
    • Understand the critical components of a BIP
    • Utilize the data collected during a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) to compose a BIP in SEIS
