English Language (EL) Learners: School Psychologist

The task of assessing English Language (EL) Learners who may have a disability can create unique challenges. Due to EL learners acquiring a second language, they may fall behind grade-level standards and may be misperceived as students with disabilities, when in fact they are progressing through the natural developmental stages of learning a second language. This webmodule will address how to distinguish between the natural language acquisition process and indicators of a disability.
