PBIS: Tier 1 Implementation: Schoolwide Rules, Behavior, and Reward Systems

(Part 2 of 3)

This is the second part of a three part Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) initiative series for schools/districts interested in implementing a PBIS program with fidelity. In this full day session, school teams will dive into collaboratively developing schoolwide rules and a behavior matrix, as well as developing schoolwide reward systems. Schools participating in this initiative should schedule adequate time between each part of the series for some implementation to take place and for teams to work outside of the professional learning series.

Outcomes:

  • Understand and begin to develop a schoolwide approach to addressing common behavior challenges.
  • Identify school and system-specific behavior challenges.
  • Discuss and develop a discipline policy that aligns with PBIS practices.
  • Understand how rewards play an integral role in affirming positive behavior and how to develop a schoolwide reward plan.

LCAP Priority Areas:

Basic Access: Providing all students’ access to fully credentialed teachers, instructional materials that align with state standards, and safe facilities,

Student Engagement: Supporting student engagement, including whether students attend school or are chronically absent.,

School Climate: Highlighting school climate and connectedness through a variety of factors, such as suspension and expulsion rates and other locally identified means.

Any of our Regional Trainings can be given at your school site. These Site-Based Trainings are best suited for larger groups, and locations where a version of this training is not already scheduled.

Site-Based Trainings generally require a minimum of 10 participants at your school site. Should you wish to have a Site-Based Training, but do not have enough participants, the SELPA may be able to pair your LEA’s needs with other local SELPA Partners in order to offer the training at your site.
