Strategic Behavioral Intervention Series Visual Schedules

Students with behavior challenges often benefit from increased structure and visual support throughout their school day in order to access the educational setting. Individual visual schedule systems are an effective way to provide students with consistent visual cues regarding their daily activities. This structure allows a student to anticipate what will happen next and may subsequently reduce anxiety by providing the student with a “vision” of his or her day. A visual schedule can also support in minimizing disagreement between students and staff by providing an external cue to begin or end an activity.
