Extended School Year (ESY)

The IEP determination of the need for extended school year (ESY) should be addressed for every student with a disability. In order for students with disabilities to receive educational benefit and avoid recoupment/regression issues, IEP teams need a clear understanding of this requirement, their responsibilities, how to complete SEIS documentation and program development. Ultimately, this webmodule will address and clarify the determination of the ESY process such that students with disabilities will continue their forward and upward momentum even during “extended” breaks in instruction and services.
