Looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2026 Inspiration to Action Symposium in Sacramento!

The El Dorado Charter SELPA welcomes you to our 2026 Inspiration to Action Symposium. This year, we celebrate the theme "Unlocking Doors, Opening Opportunities" and the collective efforts of educators and families to believe in every student. 

This in-person event held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, invites educators from across the state to come together and engage with motivational speakers, share a great meal, and promises to leave you feeling re-inspired!

 

Note: The El Dorado Charter SELPA subsidizes event registration fees for all active partner school employees. Participants are responsible for the cost of travel and lodging.

Dr. Shelley Moore is the Director of Special Education at Visions In Education Charter School, where she leads programs serving more than 1,300 students with disabilities in one of California’s largest independent study settings.

With over 20 years of experience as a teacher and special education leader, Jessica is passionate about inclusive, student-centered learning and committed to building data-driven systems that empower both students and educators.

Featured on the MindPlay Education Literacy Mindset Podcast, she advocates for equitable, literacy-rich instruction that supports every learner’s growth and success. Jessica also fosters strong collaboration among educators, families, and community partners to ensure that each student receives the individualized support they need to thrive.

Digital Wellness Speaker and Founder Project Reboot

Dino Ambrosi is a social entrepreneur on a mission to help people build healthy relationships with technology. After years of struggling with his own unhealthy tech use, he created a course at UC Berkeley that helped over 100 students reduce their screen time by an average of 3.5 hours per day.

Upon graduating in 2022, he launched Project Reboot in an effort to spread his message to a broader audience. He has since spoken to over 30,000 students and parents around the world, released a TEDx talk titled “The Battle for Your Time,” which has been viewed over 2 million times, and created an online tech addiction support group with members on six continents.

In conjunction with UC Berkeley professors, Dr. Sahar Yousef and Lucas Miller, Dino continues his research and education on technology habits and addiction to keep Project Reboot on the cutting edge and help people develop healthy, intentional relationships with their technology.

With over 25 years of experience in K–12 technology and instructional innovation, Sarah McFarland is a dynamic leader dedicated to transforming teaching and learning through digital integration and forward-thinking practices. As the Director of Instruction at Visions in Education, she oversees strategic initiatives that bridge instructional design, technology implementation, and professional learning for educators. Sarah is a Certified Chief Technology Officer and a Google Certified Teacher, bringing both technical expertise and instructional leadership to her work. Her passion for empowering educators has made her a sought-after Khan Academy Conference Presenter and an International Artificial Intelligence Presenter with Solution Tree, where she has shared insights on how AI is reshaping education globally. A UC Berkeley Artificial Intelligence program graduate, Sarah also delivered a TED Talk on the evolving role of AI in education and its potential to enhance personalized learning. Her academic background includes degrees from Mills College and San José State University, where she cultivated her commitment to educational equity and innovation.

Sarah’s work reflects a deep belief that technology, when used thoughtfully, can amplify human potential and create more meaningful learning experiences for every student.

Coordinator of Inclusive Practices and Integrated Systems - Sacramento County Office of Education

Stephanie Coleman is a dedicated educator with over 17+ years of experience as an Education Specialist, focusing on supporting students with Mild/Mod Disabilities. She holds a Master's of Education in Special Education and serves as a Part-Time Instructor at CSUS, sharing her expertise with aspiring educators. Stephanie's passion for inclusive education led her to become the Coordinator of Inclusive Practices and Integrated Systems at the Sacramento County Office of Education. In this role, she advocates for instructional strategies and evidence based practices that promote inclusivity, belonging, and academic success for all students. Her continuous efforts to improve educational experiences for diverse learners have a profound impact on building an inclusive and supportive educational system.

Curriculum Specialist - Sacramento County Office of Education

Amy Kraft is an educator with over 18 years of experience in the field. She began her career as a middle school science teacher and later transitioned to high school. She eventually took on the role of Curriculum Specialist for Science in a Sacramento-area school district, where she played a key role in supporting the implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) among her colleagues.

Currently, Amy serves as the Curriculum Specialist for Science at the Sacramento County Office of Education. In this role, she designs and delivers professional learning programs for educators across grades TK-12, with a focus on enhancing science education and promoting access for all.

With experience teaching K-12 and expertise in math and science education, Yvonne Thornton has worked across the spectrum to integrate diverse subjects and social-emotional learning. Holding a Master's in Educational Leadership, she's served as an instructor and advisor in higher education.

Yvonne is passionate about improving student outcomes and addressing systemic barriers in math and science education through Universal Design for Learning (UDL). As an advocate for transformative teaching, she's co-taught, applied UDL, and supported teachers as an Instructional Coach and now as an Assistant Principal. Yvonne's goal is to continue leading and inspiring educators to ensure equitable learning opportunities for all students.

Aubyn Stahmer, PhD, BCBA

Director - UC Davis MIND Institute

Aubyn Stahmer, PhD, BCBA is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Director of the Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and the MIND Institute. She is an expert in the translation of evidence-based autism research to community-based practice and delivery.

The main goals of her research include developing ways to help community providers, such as teachers and therapists, help autistic children and their families by providing high quality care.

She is an internationally respected expert in the use of naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions which are validated treatments for autism. She is part of the team that developed and tested Classroom Pivotal Response Teaching (CPRT) in schools throughout California. Most of her work is conducted in collaboration with community partners who shape the research questions and goals with the academic team.

Director of Education Initiatives Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, UC Davis MIND Institute

Amber Fitzgerald, MA, BCBA is the Director of Educational Initiatives at the UC Davis MIND Institute. She holds a Master’s in Special Education, an Education Specialist teaching credential, and is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. At the MIND Institute, she trains and coaches families, educators, and administrators on evidence-based practices for students with neurodevelopmental disabilities.

A nationally certified trainer in CPRT, Project ImPACT, and ESDM, she also facilitates the MIND Institute ECHO Autism tele-mentoring program. Amber serves as Executive Coordinator for CAPTAIN, supporting evidence-based autism practices, and co-coordinates the Summer Institute.

This one-hour session will introduce practical strategies from Classroom Pivotal Response Teaching (CPRT), an evidence-based approach designed to boost student motivation and active participation.

Attendees will learn how to use natural reinforcement, child choice, and task variation to support engagement and learning for autistic children.

The talk will highlight real-world classroom examples, provide actionable tips, and emphasize how small shifts in teaching practices can lead to meaningful improvements in student outcomes.
